About me

Hi, I'm Gemma, an Integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. I offer a safe, welcoming space where you can learn about and understand yourself, getting to a place where you can feel good about yourself and move more confidently throughout your life.

I work relationally, meaning that the relationship between myself and my clients is an important aspect of the therapy. Building trust and a sense of safety is really important.

The way I work involves talking and also taking notice of the body. The experiences you tell me about are important, as are the sensations in your body, your intuition, and even images and dreams.

I studied at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI) in Nottingham, and hold an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy.

I am a registered and accredited member of the UKCP.

What does 'Integrative' mean?

For me, integrative means 'to feel whole'. Sometimes we may not feel like that, and instead feel pulled in different directions, or even feel that inside us there are different parts of us fighting to be heard.
I want to help you feel more 'whole' and confident to make choices for your life.
In sessions I may respectfully invite you to notice if you feel anything in your body at different times, or for you to tell me more about images that are coming to mind.
We may explore being creative perhaps through play, movement or imagination. I also believe dream recall offers a great opportunity to deepen personal awareness.

In addition to private practice, I also work as a consultant psychotherapist for a therapeutic fostering agency, supporting social workers and foster carers with a therapeutic approach to fostering.
